Peer support is a growing practice, both in Quebec and internationally. At Arborescence, we have been integrating family peer support workers into our teams since 2019.
These family peer helpers, members of the entourage of people living with a mental health disorder, provide emotional support and a deep understanding of the realities and challenges faced by loved ones. Through their lived experience and their own journey, they offer hope, information and mutual assistance to those around them. This team of trained professionals plays a key role in supporting loved ones in mental health.
Family peer support services are offered internally within Arborescence and externally in certain partner CIUSSS services.

A listening line
Workshops through the arts
We offer a free telephone support line for loved ones of people living with a mental health issue. This line allows you to talk with peer helpers, specially trained to listen to you and support you. Calls are received in a warm, confidential and non-judgmental manner.

Monday: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This project is made possible thanks to the support of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal and de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal. In collaboration with the Quebec Schizophrenia Society (SQS) and the Quebec Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (AQRP).
In partnership with the CIUSSS de l'Est de l'île de Montréal and the Société québécoise de la schizophrénie (SQS), Arborescence, in collaboration with Les Impatients, offers weekly visual arts workshops. These workshops, led by a professional artist, encourage artistic expression through drawing, painting and collage.
The workshops are open to:
• People living with a mental health problem, accompanied or not by a loved one
• Relatives of people living with a mental health problem
The workshops take place on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Petite-Côte Community Center, located at 5675 rue Lafond, Montreal, H1X 2X6.
Registration conditions:
No affiliation with a partner organization is required.
Participants commit to regular attendance; absences must be justified.
Any interruption of participation must be reported as soon as possible.
